Laureatus Albarino Overview

Laureatus is a fresh, classic Albarino from the Val do Salnes, the Atlantic heart of Spain's Rias Baixas. It's bright and aromatic, with citrus, green apple, pear and a hint of fennel, and hints of tropical fruit on the palate. It has crisp acidity and a clean, saline finish.

It's made by a family who were famous for seafood before they made wine, so it's no surprise it's a superb match for oysters, prawns and grilled fish.

Tasting Notes

Laureatus Albarino

  • Nose: Ripe citrus, green apple and fresh pear are complemented by delicate herbal notes of fennel.
  • Palate: Crisp and energetic, combining juicy orchard fruit with pineapple and mango and refreshing acidity.
  • Finish: Long and elegant, with a clean mineral edge and lingering freshness.

This is a wine to keep in the fridge for summer evenings, seafood suppers, barbecues and relaxed lunches with friends. Meet The Producer

Meet The Wine Producer Behind The Bottle

A brief look at the producer’s heritage and winemaking approach.

Laureatus

Bodegas Laureatus is a family winery in Galicia's Rías Baixas region, founded by the Oubina-Somoza family. The family's background is unusual within the wine industry, as it had spent decades building a reputation as one of Spain's leading suppliers of shellfish.

For Laureano Oubina, wine was a long-held ambition. That ambition became reality with the family's purchase of a vineyard in Val do Salnes, the heartland of Rías Baixas and one of Galicia's most important areas for Albarino.

The family chose to concentrate exclusively on Albarino, the native white grape that has become synonymous with Rías Baixas. This focused approach allows Bodegas Laureatus to concentrate on expressing the variety and the distinctive conditions of its vineyard.

Although relatively young as a winery, Laureatus combines modern facilities with traditional practices. Grapes are harvested and selected by hand, while careful temperature control helps preserve the freshness and aromatic character for which Albarino from Val do Salnes is known.

The result is a producer built around a simple philosophy: combine family ambition, local expertise and modern winemaking to create an authentic expression of Albarino from the Rías Baixas region.

FAQs For Laureatus Albarino

How is this wine made?

Made in the heart of Spain’s Rias Baixas region, this Albarino begins with carefully hand-selected grapes chosen for the right balance of ripeness and natural acidity. The grapes undergo gentle whole-bunch pressing, a method that helps preserve their delicate aromas and fresh fruit character. The resulting wine is carefully cold stabilised to maintain clarity and freshness, helping to retain the vibrant, clean character associated with the finished wine. The combination of careful grape selection, gentle pressing and temperature-controlled handling allows the bright citrus and fruit flavours to remain at the forefront.

What is Val do Salnes?

Val do Salnes is one of the sub-zones of Rías Baixas and is home to the Laureatus winery and vineyards. Rias Baixas is a Spanish wine region in Galicia, close to the Atlantic coast and particularly well known for Albarino.

How should I serve this wine?

Serve it well chilled, around 8–10°C, so its acidity and aromatic fruit character remain fresh without becoming overly muted. Use a medium-sized white wine glass, giving the wine enough space for its citrus, fruit and herbal aromas to develop.

Should I age it?

No. It's made to be enjoyed young and fresh, ideally within two years of the vintage.
