The Evolution Winery

1276 Wines is a modern English wine producer built on a vineyard site with a remarkable connection to the past. Located on the south-facing slopes of Ledbury, Herefordshire, the estate takes its name from the year 1276, when the Bishop of Hereford’s Red Book recorded the planting of vines on these historic slopes. Nearly 800 years later, the tradition of grape growing has been revived with a new generation of winemaking.

The winery, operated by The Evolution Winery, combines this historic heritage with a forward-thinking approach to English wine production. The team’s vision is to create wines that celebrate the character of the vineyard, allowing the unique climate, soils and fruit quality of the site to define each vintage.

Today, 1276 Wines produces a range of still, sparkling and ice wines, bringing together centuries of vineyard history with modern sustainable practices and innovative winemaking.
