Tasting Notes

Taylors & Warres LBV Port Gift Set

The best way to understand a wine style is to taste two exceptional examples side by side. This LBV Port Gift Set brings together Taylor's LBV and Warre's LBV, two houses with centuries of Port-making history between them, presented together in our branded luxury gift box.

Both are produced from single harvest years, aged four to six years in oak, and bottled ready to drink. But each expresses the LBV style differently. Taylor's with its structured precision and firm tannic backbone, Warre's with its rich, warming character and classic English Port house heritage. Tasting them together reveals the depth and range of what Late Bottled Vintage port can achieve.

Tasting Profile:

  • Taylor's LBV Port 75cl

Taylor's is one of the benchmark producers of LBV port. Structured, precise and built with the house's hallmark elegance. Aged four to six years in seasoned oak, it delivers concentrated dark fruit, layered with dark chocolate, firm tannins and a long, controlled finish.

  • Warre's LBV Port 75cl

Warre's is the oldest of the British Port houses, and its LBV carries that heritage of tradition and craft. Rich and warming, with dark berry fruit, notes of dried fig and a smooth, rounded finish that makes it approachable from the moment it's opened.

Occasion & Buyer Profile

Perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, Father's Day, dinner invitations and milestone celebrations. It is particularly suited to Port enthusiasts, wine lovers and anyone who appreciates the heritage and history behind their bottle.

A brief look at the producer’s heritage and winemaking approach.

Taylors & Warre's

Taylor's & Warre's brings together two of the oldest and most storied names in the history of Port wine. Both houses have deep roots in the Douro Valley and a long-standing reputation for quality, craftsmanship and ageing potential.

Taylor's dates back to 1692 and has established an international reputation for producing elegant, structured Ports from some of the Douro's finest vineyards. The house is particularly associated with its historic Vargellas estate and its long-lived Vintage Ports.

Warre's was founded in 1670, making it the oldest of the British Port shippers. With more than 350 years of history, the house has built its reputation on rich, characterful Ports produced from its Quinta da Cavadinha estate in the heart of the Douro.

Together, Taylor's and Warre's represent some of the deepest heritage in the story of Port, with both houses continuing to preserve the traditions and craftsmanship that have made the Douro famous around the world.

Taylors & Warre's LBV Port Gift Set FAQs

How are these ports made?

Late Bottled Vintage Ports are crafted from a single harvest and aged longer than traditional vintage ports, allowing complexity to develop while remaining ready to drink. Both Taylor's and Warre's follow meticulous vinification and extended cask ageing, building richness, depth and smooth tannins.

Taylor's LBV emphasises structure and intensity, while Warre's LBV leans into rich, warming fruit and classic character. Together, they showcase the heritage and craftsmanship of two of Port's founding houses.

What is included in this gift set?

The gift set contains one bottle of Taylor's LBV Port and one bottle of Warre's LBV Port, presented together in a branded luxury double gift box with a personalised gift message.

What does LBV Port mean?

LBV stands for Late Bottled Vintage. It is made from grapes harvested in a single vintage year and aged for longer before bottling, giving it a rich and developed character while generally being ready to drink when released.

Is LBV Port ready to drink?

Yes. One of the attractions of LBV Port is that it spends an extended period maturing before bottling, meaning it is generally ready to enjoy when purchased.
