How is it made?
  1. Grapes are hand‑selected at optimum ripeness.
  2. They are destemmed, crushed and undergo meticulous maceration to extract colour, tannins and aromatics.
  3. Fermentation takes place at 28–30°C until the desired sweetness (measured by the Baumé scale) is reached.
  4. Grape brandy is added to halt fermentation and create the fortified wine.
  5. The wine is aged in seasoned oak barrels for decades - never less than seven years - developing complexity through slow oxidation.
  6. Bottling occurs only when the winemaker judges the vintage ready.
How should it be served?

Lightly chilled, ideally between 12–14°C, in a small Port or tulip‑shaped glass.

Does it need decanting?

Yes. Long‑aged Colheitas often develop natural sediment and benefit from gentle decanting.
