Our Review:

"What impressed me most was the balance. There's plenty of richness and sweetness, but it's lifted by freshness and those lovely spice notes."

A brief look at the producer’s heritage and winemaking approach.

JH Andresen

J. H. Andresen's Ports are made in Portugal's Douro Valley, one of the world's established regions for fortified wine. Production is centred on Quinta das Aranhas, near the River Tua, where grapes from around 40 hectares of top-rated vineyards provide the foundation for the range. The house also sources grapes from other Douro properties to meet its production needs.

The portfolio covers a variety of Port styles, from fruit-led Ruby expressions to Tawny Ports shaped by time in wood. White Port is another speciality, including aged bottlings.

FAQs For JH Andresen Colheita Port 2005

Does it need decanting?

No. Colheita Port is generally ready to serve straight from the bottle. Decanting is unnecessary unless you want to present it in a decanter.

What temperature should it be served at?

Serve it slightly chilled, around 12°C, to balance the sweetness and bring out its dried-fruit and nutty flavours.

How long does it last once opened?

It can remain enjoyable for a couple of weeks after opening when stored carefully. Reseal the bottle and keep it in the refrigerator to preserve its flavour.

Which grapes are used?

The blend comprises Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Barroca. These traditional Douro red grape varieties contribute the structure and fruit needed for Port production.
