Taylors LBV Port 2020 FAQ's

How Is This Port Made?

This LBV is matured for four to six years before bottling, allowing it to develop richness, depth and approachability while retaining youthful intensity.

The wines used for LBV are sourced from some of the best full‑bodied red Ports grown on Taylor’s own estates and top vineyards in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior.

What does LBV mean in practical terms?

LBV stands for Late Bottled Vintage. It means the wine is aged in wood for around 4–6 years before bottling, allowing it to soften earlier than vintage port while retaining a strong sense of structure and fruit intensity.

What is the best way to store the bottle?

Store upright in a cool, dark place with stable temperature conditions. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat sources, which can affect quality over time. Once opened, it typically remains in good condition for 2–4 weeks if resealed properly and stored in a cool environment.

How should I serve this Port?
  • Decanting is optional but recommended if a bottle has been stored for a long time or shows sediment. If decanted, allow it to breathe for 20–30 minutes before serving.
  • Serve at 16–18°C. This temperature range enhances the balance between fruit intensity and tannic structure while keeping the wine smooth and expressive.
  • Serve in a tulip-shaped port glass or small Bordeaux-style wine glass is ideal. These shapes help concentrate aromas while allowing the wine’s structure to open gradually in the glass.
