Penfolds Grandfather 20 Year Old Rare Tawny

The Grandfather name originates in 1915, when Penfolds set aside a cask of the finest tawny blends for exclusive family use. The name reflects the age of the oldest component in the blend, symbolizing heritage, patience, and craftsmanship.

This rare tawny is crafted from a core selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Mataro, and Shiraz, sourced from vineyards specifically chosen for fortified wine production. Extended maturation in oak imparts a deep tawny hue with a distinctive yellow-green edge, hallmarking its time in wood.

  • The nose is rich and inviting, with aromas of raisin, fruitcake, liquorice, and roasted walnuts
  • The palate is smooth and layered, combining classic Penfolds fruitcake flavours with hints of liquorice and oak. The mid-palate is sweet and rounded
  • Leading to a long, persistent finish

Pairs beautifully with stilton, gorgonzola, or other mature cheeses, offering a refined tasting experience worthy of its distinguished heritage.
