Meet The Wine Producer Behind The Bottle

A brief look at the producer’s heritage and winemaking approach.

Louis Latour

Louis Latour is a renowned Burgundy wine producer established in 1797 in the village of Aloxe-Corton, where the family remains based today. With over 200 years of history, the estate has become one of the most important landholders in Burgundy, particularly in the Cote de Beaune.

The house owns vineyards in some of the region’s most prestigious appellations, including Corton-Charlemagne, Corton and other Premier and Grand Cru sites. Combining estate-grown fruit with carefully selected grapes from partner growers, Louis Latour produces wines that emphasise purity, finesse and expression of terroir across both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Our Review:

“What really shines is the clarity of the fruit. Stainless‑steel ageing keeps everything crisp, while the granite soils add definition.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this wine made?

The Gamay grapes come from 35 villages rooted in granite‑rich soils, which naturally enhance aromatic lift and fruit purity. Fermentation takes place in traditional open vats, allowing gentle extraction and preserving the grape’s vibrant character.

The wine is then aged for 8-10 months in stainless steel, maintaining freshness and highlighting the natural charm of Gamay. Bottling at Maison Latour’s Clos Chameroy ensures consistency and quality from vineyard to glass.

How should I store this wine?

Store in a cool, dark place at a stable temperature. Although this wine is crafted for early enjoyment, proper storage preserves its freshness and fruit purity.

What’s the best way to serve this wine?

Serve slightly chilled, around 12–14°C, to highlight its juicy fruit and lively acidity. Decanting isn’t essential, but a brief aeration softens the spice and opens the fruit, especially in the first year after release.

How long can this wine age?

Best enjoyed young, but it can develop for 2-3 years, gaining softer spice and roundness.
