FAQs For Kopke Colheita 1999 Vintage Port

How should this colheita be stored?

Keep the bottle upright in a cool, dry, dark place with no temperature fluctuations. Colheitas are stable but benefit from consistent conditions to preserve their aromatics and freshness.

If you’d like more detailed advice on how to store Port properly, we’ve put together a full guide covering all Port styles.

Does this Port need decanting before serving?

Decanting isn’t required, but a brief aeration helps the aromatics open. Once opened, enjoy within a few days for the best expression.

If you’re unsure whether Port should be decanted, our guide explains when it’s necessary and when it isn’t.

How should you serve this Port for the best taste experience?

Serve lightly chilled at 12–14°C to highlight its finesse, freshness and aromatic lift. A small Port or tulip‑shaped glass works beautifully.

How is this Port wine crafted?

As a true Colheita, this Port is produced from a single harvest and aged in oak casks for a minimum of seven years - in this case, over two decades. Slow oxidative ageing develops its golden‑red colour, red‑fruit complexity and silky texture.

Grapes are hand‑picked, destemmed and crushed before fermentation in temperature‑controlled vats. When the must reaches the ideal sweetness, grape brandy is added to create the final fortified wine. Bottling occurs only when the wine reaches its perfect maturity.
