Tasting Notes

El Enemigo As Bravas Cordon El Cepillo Malbec

This malbec reflects the innovative vision of Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena at Bodegas Aleanna. Produced from Malbec with a small addition of Semillon, the fruit comes from the limestone-rich soils of Cordon El Cepillo in the Uco Valley. Fermented in cement tanks with cold maceration and matured for 64 months in foudres before extended bottle ageing, this wine showcases precision, restraint and exceptional terroir expression.

Tasting Profile:

  • Appearance: Intense ruby-red colour with youthful depth.
  • Nose: Ripe dark fruits layered with earthy notes, tobacco leaf and subtle spice.
  • Palate: Elegant and energetic with concentrated black fruit, pronounced minerality and bright, lifted acidity.
  • Finish: Long and refined with savoury complexity and lingering freshness.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this wine made?

This cuvee is crafted from Malbec with a small addition of Semillon, sourced from a single plot in Cordón El Cepillo - a site defined by colluvial soils and marine limestone, contributing to the wine’s tension and mineral backbone. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks at controlled temperatures, preceded by a five‑day cold maceration to preserve purity and aromatic lift.

The wine then undergoes an extraordinary 64‑month elevage in large foudres, followed by a year of bottle ageing. This slow, traditional maturation builds complexity, finesse and structural integrity, resulting in a Malbec that is both expressive in youth and capable of ageing gracefully for up to two decades.

How should I store this wine?

Store on its side in a cool, dark place with stable temperature to protect its ageing potential.

How should this wine be served?

Serve at 16–18°C. This temperature range preserves freshness while highlighting the wine's depth and textural elegance. Serve in a large Bordeaux-style red wine glass. The wider bowl enhances aeration and allows the wine's nuanced aromas to develop fully.

Should I decant this wine?

Yes decant for around an hour to open its aromatics and structure.
