Taylors Port Introduces The Globe: A Celebration Of History & Craftsmanship

Taylor’s Port Launch The Globe: A Celebration Of History & Craftsmanship

Taylor’s Port proudly presents The Globe, the latest release in its acclaimed Historical Limited Editions series. Building on the success of its previous offerings, this release celebrates the rich heritage of Port while embracing innovative design. Taylor’s Managing Director, Adrian Bridge, highlights the importance of this milestone:

“The launch of our fourth historical bottle underscores the enduring legacy of Port, reflecting our commitment to tradition and innovation. Its timeless design and historical significance make it an exceptional gift for any occasion, appealing to both seasoned Port enthusiasts and newcomers alike.”

A Nod To History: The Globe’s Design

The Globe draws inspiration from the ‘shaft and globe’ bottle design of mid-17th century England, an era when mouth-blown glass and coal-fired furnaces redefined wine bottle production. These spherical bottles, with their thick, sturdy walls, were ideal for storage and serving. The design also marks a transitional moment in bottle-making that led to the iconic ‘onion’ bottles associated with Taylor’s since 1692.

This release pays homage to those early innovations, encapsulating a pivotal chapter in Port’s history within its elegant, collectible packaging.

The Blend: Richness And Depth Defined

The Globe is crafted from a specially curated selection of Taylor’s tawny Port reserves. These wines, aged in seasoned oak casks, create a blend that exemplifies Taylor’s signature style:

  • Rich, complex flavours balanced with a harmonious profile.
  • A distinctive and robust finish, showcasing the expertise of generations.

David Guimaraens, Taylor’s Head Winemaker, emphasises:

“This blend vividly expresses Taylor’s hallmark depth and richness, culminating in an exceptional, long-lasting finish.”

A Tribute To Legacy

The bottle itself is adorned with Taylor’s engraved ‘4XX’ trademark, a reference to the company’s founding in 1692. This detail, along with its bespoke design, celebrates Taylor’s enduring legacy as one of the most respected names in Port.

This limited edition release offers collectors and wine lovers a chance to own a piece of Port history, blending tradition with modern elegance.
