Food Pairing

Food Pairing Suggestions

Here are a few serving suggestions and pairing ideas to help you get the most from this red wine, whether you’re enjoying it with food or simply savouring it on its own.

Pappardelle with slow-cooked pork ragu works wonderfully because the rich meat sauce is balanced by refreshing acidity and lively fruit. The wine's moderate tannins never overwhelm the dish, allowing both flavours to shine together. Serve in large glasses to enhance the aromas.

Grilled Italian sausages with herbs and roasted peppers create a hearty weekend pairing. The savoury richness highlights the wine's plum and cherry character, while the gentle spice ties everything together naturally. Serve just below room temperature for the best expression.

Meet The Producer

Meet The Wine Producer Behind The Bottle

A brief look at the producer’s heritage and winemaking approach.

Luciano Sandrone

Luciano Sandrone concentrates on three traditional Piedmont grape varieties: Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. Working across the Langhe and Roero, the winery seeks to express the distinctive qualities of individual vineyards and the differences between each harvest.

Nebbiolo is at the heart of its Barolo wines. Cannubi Boschis, the vineyard Luciano purchased in 1977, has remained central to the estate's identity. The winery also produces Barolo Le Vigne, a carefully assembled blend of Nebbiolo from several selected vineyards across the appellation, combining their different characteristics into one wine.

In Roero, the steep Valmaggiore vineyard provides another expression of Nebbiolo. The family began bottling wine from this historic site in 1994, extending its work beyond Barolo while remaining focused on local varieties and distinctive growing sites.

The winery's approach involves treating each vineyard parcel separately during vinification and maturation. This allows the team to understand the qualities of each site before deciding how best to express them in the finished wines. The aim is to preserve the character of the grapes and the nuances of each vintage rather than create a uniform style.

Research and long-term observation also play a role in the estate's work. Vite Talin, a special Barolo project, began when Luciano noticed an unusual Nebbiolo vine in 1987. More than 25 years of observation, propagation and research followed before DNA analysis confirmed its identity in 2017.

Across its portfolio, Luciano Sandrone combines traditional grape varieties, detailed vineyard knowledge and considered winemaking to produce wines that reflect the character of Piedmont.
