Meet The Producer Behind The Bottle

A brief look at the producer’s heritage and winemaking approach.

Dolin

Dolin is a historic French producer of vermouths, liqueurs and Alpine spirits, founded in the Savoie region and closely associated with the city of Chambéry. The house traces its origins to 1814, when Joseph Chavasse established a distillery inspired by the aromatic plants and traditional herbal knowledge of the Alps. In the 19th century, the company became renowned for its Vermouth de Chambery, a style that helped define French vermouth production.

After the marriage of Marie Chavasse to Louis-Ferdinand Dolin, the distillery adopted the Dolin name in 1852, and the house went on to gain international recognition, including a gold medal at the 1876 Philadelphia World’s Fair. Today, Dolin remains rooted in Chambery, continuing to produce its vermouths and Alpine-inspired spirits using traditional methods and carefully selected botanicals from the surrounding Savoie region.

With a heritage spanning more than two centuries, Dolin represents the craftsmanship and terroir of the French Alps, preserving the distinctive character of Chambery vermouth while maintaining its reputation among bartenders, mixologists and spirits enthusiasts worldwide.
