    Food Pairing

    Food Pairing Suggestions

Here are a few serving suggestions and pairing ideas to help you get the most from this wine, whether you’re enjoying it with food or simply savouring it on its own.

Figs roasted with honey and almonds work beautifully, as the wine’s dried‑fruit depth and nutty richness wrap naturally around the warm fruit while its silky texture softens the sweetness. The caramel notes in the glass echo the glaze, and serving the figs just warm helps the flavours meld.

A creme brulee with a crisp caramel top offers a luxurious match for the port’s layers of nuts, honey and subtle dried fruit. The wine’s slightly austere edge cuts through the creaminess, while the long finish mirrors the dessert’s lingering caramel; a few fresh strawberries on the side brighten the pairing.

    Our Review:

What stands out first is the richness of the dried fruit and nuts, lifted by a gentle honeyed warmth. The texture is smooth and refined, carrying caramel and soft spice across the palate. The finish is long and calm, with a lovely balance that keeps it from ever feeling heavy.

Taylors 30 Year Old Tawny Port FAQ's

What temperature should it be served at?

Serve slightly chilled between 12°C and 16°C to highlight its aromatic complexity and freshness.

    Does it need decanting?

No decanting is required because long-aged tawny ports are normally filtered before bottling and contain little or no sediment.

How should it be stored before opening?

Store upright in a cool, dark place away from sunlight and temperature fluctuations to maintain its quality. Once opened, it can remain fresh for around four to eight weeks if properly sealed and kept in a cool place.

Is it ready to drink now?

Yes, this style is fully matured before bottling and ready to enjoy immediately. Although it can keep for many years unopened, most of the ageing occurs in oak casks rather than in the bottle.
