FAQ's About Vista Alegre 40 Year Old White Port

What style is this and how sweet/dry is it?

A rich, fully aged white port, naturally sweet but balanced by lively acidity. Its smooth, refined character makes it a luxurious example of an aged white Port.

Can this age further?

After forty years of careful oak ageing, it is ready to enjoy now. Once opened, it will remain stable for several weeks if stored correctly.

How should it be served and when is it best enjoyed?

Serve lightly chilled to highlight its delicate aromas and smooth texture. Best enjoyed during celebratory moments, refined gatherings, or as a contemplative aperitif after a special meal.

How is it made?

Blend of traditional Douro white grape varieties, including Gouveio, Rabigato, Viosinho, Malvasia Fina, Arinto and Cercial. After gentle crushing and partial skin contact, fermentation takes place under controlled temperature and is halted by the addition of grape spirit to preserve natural sweetness.

The resulting wine is then blended and slowly matured in oak casks for an average of forty years, allowing time and wood influence to develop its rich complexity and distinctive balance.
