International Sherry Week returns for its 13th edition from 2nd to 8th November 2026, bringing together the global sherry community for a week of tastings, food pairings, masterclasses and events across more than 30 countries. It is the largest annual celebration dedicated to sherry wine in the world, and for anyone curious about discovering what sherry really is, there has never been a better moment to start.
The UK has been the most active Sherry Week market globally for consecutive years. In the most recent edition, the UK hosted 1,846 registered events, a 123 per cent increase on the previous year, with 18 sherry houses and 45 or more brands represented. Events took place everywhere from independent wine merchants and local bars to Michelin-starred restaurants. This year promises to be the biggest yet.
International Sherry Week is organised under the auspices of the Consejo Regulador for Jerez-Xeres-Sherry and Manzanilla, and since launching in 2014 has hosted more than 30,000 events worldwide. Nearly one million wine lovers have taken part, discovering sherry's heritage, its Solera ageing system and its versatility in cocktails and food pairings.
The week exists to demonstrate what those of us in the sherry trade have always known: that sherry is one of the most diverse, food-friendly and underappreciated wine categories in the world. Fino is the driest and most delicate sherry style, aged under a protective layer of flor yeast in Jerez. Serve very cold as an aperitif with olives, almonds and seafood. If you have never tried fino before, this is where to begin.
Manzanilla is fino's coastal cousin, produced exclusively in Sanlucar de Barrameda and carrying a distinctive briny, saline character from its proximity to the sea. The palest and most delicate of all sherry styles.
Amontillado starts life as a fino but develops further through oxidative ageing, gaining a complex nutty character that bridges the gap between the dry freshness of fino and the richness of oloroso. An excellent introduction to the complexity sherry can achieve.
Palo Cortado is one of sherry's rarest and most prized styles, beginning as a fino before the flor naturally disappears, producing a wine that combines the elegance of amontillado with the richness of oloroso. Worth seeking out during Sherry Week for the sheer individuality of the experience.
Oloroso is aged entirely through oxidation, producing a rich, full-bodied style with flavours of walnuts, dried figs and spice. One of the most food-versatile wines in the world.
Pedro Ximenez is the sweetest sherry style, made from sun-dried grapes that concentrate sugars to an extraordinary level. Rich with raisins, molasses and dark chocolate. Poured over good vanilla ice cream it is one of the simplest and most impressive desserts you can serve during Sherry Week.

Host a sherry tasting: Buy three or four different styles , a fino, an amontillado, an oloroso and a Pedro Ximenez , and taste them side by side with friends.
