Food Pairing

Food Pairing Suggestions

Here are a few serving suggestions and pairing ideas to help you get the most from this red wine, whether you’re enjoying it with food or simply savouring it on its own.

Tagliatelle with slow-cooked beef ragu and Parmesan is a superb match because the wine's bright acidity cuts through the richness of the sauce. The concentrated cherry and blackberry fruit adds depth, while the freshness keeps every mouthful balanced.

Mature Pecorino with walnut bread and fig chutney creates a rewarding pairing. The savoury intensity of the cheese highlights the wine's fruit character, while the lively acidity refreshes the palate throughout. Serve as part of an Italian-style sharing board.

Our Review:

"This is exactly what I look for in Barbera. There is plenty of juicy fruit, but the acidity gives it real lift and makes it brilliant with food."

Meet The Wine Producer Behind The Bottle

A brief look at the producer’s heritage and winemaking approach.

Viberti

Viberti Giovanni is a family-owned wine producer in Barolo, in Italy's Piedmont region, with a history dating back to 1923. Antonio Viberti first made wine in the cellar of the Locanda del Buon Padre for the inn's guests. His son Giovanni and daughter-in-law Maria expanded the family business, before the third generation, represented by Claudio Viberti, took responsibility for its continued development.

The winery is best known for Barolo, including its historic Buon Padre label and single-vineyard Riservas such as Bricco delle Viole, San Pietro and La Volta. Its wider range features regional varieties including Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, alongside Chardonnay. Vineyard work focuses on biodiversity, grass cover and hand selection of grapes, while winemaking brings together modern temperature control and traditional oak vessels to retain freshness, varietal character and the influence of the Langhe terroir.
