Taylors Vintage Port 1997 Half Bottle

A classic vintage, one of the best vintages for port in the 1990s.

  • Deep purple in colour
  • A deep, tight, rich fruit nose with cedar and dark berry aromas
  • This is a big, full bodied wine with great finesse and style
  • Enjoy Taylors vintage 1997 port half bottle now or cellared for decades to come

After the snowfalls on the 7th January, the Winter and the Spring of the year 1997 were warm and dry. The higher than normal temperatures brought on early bud burst and the berry set for all the vineyards was good. From flowering up to September there were frequent rain showers. Reducing the initial advance to the season to a more gradual ripening period.

The weather during the harvest was extremely hot, as a result the fermentation temperatures were high and an extra effort was required to prolong the fermentations. The high quality was evident in the port wines from the start, with the intensity of the must, good integration of the spirit and powerful, attractive aromas.

For many, Taylor’s is the archetypal port house and its wines the quintessential ports. Established over three centuries ago in 1692, Taylor’s is one of the oldest of the founding port houses. Their dedication is entirely to the production of port wine and in particular to its finest styles.
