Sandeman Unfiltered LBV Port
This exceptional Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port from Sandeman is crafted using only the finest grapes from the Douro Valley. Aged for four years in oak casks and bottled unfiltered, this Port retains the richness and intensity typical of a single-vintage wine. With a legacy dating back to 1790, Sandeman continues to uphold its reputation for producing Ports of exceptional character and structure.
- The wines appearance boasts a deep, almost opaque ruby colour, showcasing a bold and intense character.
- Aroma has a complex bouquet unfolding with floral hints, vibrant red fruits, and layers of warm spices. Pepper, cocoa, and chocolate add depth to its aromatic profile.
- On the palate, this LBV offers a full-bodied, structured entry with lively acidity. Well-integrated tannins balance the red fruit and spice elements, leading to a smooth and enduring finish.
This remarkable LBV Port pairs exceptionally well with indulgent chocolate desserts, enhancing the richness with dark fruit flavours and smooth tannins. It also complements fruity tarts, highlighting the wine’s vibrant berry notes, while a pairing with robust cheeses like Stilton or aged Cheddar creates a luxurious contrast.
Best served at 16°C-18°C, with decanting recommended for wines aged over two years to appreciate its full complexity. As an unfiltered Port, sediment may form over time, so careful decanting is advised.
Although ready to be enjoyed now, this LBV Port will continue to evolve, reaching its full potential in 10-15 years. To preserve its character, store it in a cool, dark place, lying horizontally.
