Produced using traditional foot treading in granite lagares, it reflects both the quality of the vintage and the precision of Sandeman’s winemaking approach. How is this Port made?

Quinta do Seixo uses traditional granite lagares for foot treading, ensuring deep yet gentle extraction of colour, tannin and flavour. The grapes come from steep, schist‑rich vineyards in the Cima Corgo, where low yields and concentrated fruit contribute to the wine’s power and structure. Fermentation is carefully monitored before fortification with grape spirit at the ideal moment to preserve natural sweetness.

After fermentation, the young wine is aged in oak barrels to build complexity and integrate tannins. It is bottled unfiltered to preserve its full character, allowing it to mature gracefully over decades.

How long can it age?

This vintage will reach its peak after around 15 years, with the potential to evolve gracefully for 20–25 years under proper storage conditions.

Does it need decanting?

Yes it must be decanted. It is bottled unfiltered and will naturally form sediment. Decanting also allows the wine to open up aromatically.

How should it be served?
  • Serve at 16–18°C.
  • Use a large Port glass or small tulip‑shaped wine glass to highlight its structure and aromatics.
  • Once opened it should be consumed within 2–4 days.
