FAQ's For Kopke Quinta Sao Luiz 2008 Vintage

How should this vintage port be stored?

Keep the bottle lying horizontally in a cool, dry, dark place with no temperature fluctuations. Vintage Ports benefit from long bottle ageing and can be kept indefinitely without compromising quality.

Should you decant this before serving?

Yes. Once opened, decant and enjoy within 2–3 days. Decanting helps separate natural sediment and allows the aromatics to open fully.

How is it best served?

Serve at 12–14°C to highlight its structure, fruit depth and floral lift. A classic Port glass helps focus the wine’s intensity.

How is this Port made?

Grapes are hand‑picked from the steep vineyards of Quinta Sao Luiz, then destemmed, crushed and macerated to extract colour, tannins and aromatics. Fermentation takes place in traditional lagares, where foot‑treading ensures gentle yet thorough extraction.

When the must reaches the ideal sweetness, grape brandy is added to halt fermentation and preserve the wine’s natural richness. The young Port is then aged in bottle, where it continues to develop structure, depth and aromatic complexity over time.
