Esporao Reserva Red Organic
A benchmark of quality and sustainability in Portuguese winemaking, Esporao Reserva Red comes from one of the country’s most respected estates. Founded in 1973 by Jose Roquette and Joaquim Bandeira, Esporao is now led by Joao Roquette, continuing a family legacy rooted in innovation and environmental stewardship. Today, Esporao stands as one of the world’s largest organic wine producers, with vineyards in Alentejo, as well as select parcels in Douro and Vinho Verde.
This flagship red is crafted from 20 year old vines planted in granite and schist-based soils, enriched with loam and clay that contribute to the wine’s structure and depth. It is a carefully assembled blend of indigenous Portuguese grape varieties, complemented by a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, with each varietal vinified separately for optimal character before blending.
The wine is aged for 12 months in both American and French oak, followed by an additional 8 months in bottle, allowing it to gain harmony and complexity.
