Sherry Wine FAQs

What types of sherry do you offer?

Our sherry collection covers all seven classic styles produced in Jerez, Spain. Fino and manzanilla are the driest and most delicate styles, served well chilled as aperitifs. Amontillado and palo cortado offer greater complexity in a medium-bodied dry style. Oloroso is the richest of the dry styles. Cream sherry blends oloroso with Pedro Ximenez for a sweeter result. Pedro Ximenez is the sweetest style of all, intensely concentrated with dried fruit and molasses character. For a full breakdown see our guide to the styles of sherry wine.

How should sherry be served?

Serving temperature varies significantly by style. Fino and manzanilla should be served very cold at 6 to 8 degrees, similar to a crisp white wine. Amontillado and palo cortado at 12 to 14 degrees. Oloroso at 14 to 16 degrees. Pedro Ximenez at 12 to 14 degrees. No sherry should be served at warm room temperature. For a full serving guide see our sherry serving and storage guide.

How long does sherry last once opened?

Shelf life varies considerably by style. Fino and manzanilla are the most delicate and should be consumed within three to five days of opening, kept refrigerated. Amontillado and palo cortado last two to four weeks refrigerated. Oloroso and cream sherry last four to six weeks. Pedro Ximenez, due to its extraordinary sugar content, can last several months. Always keep opened sherry in the fridge with a good stopper. See our serving and storage guide for the full breakdown.

Can sherry be given as a gift?

Sherry makes an excellent and distinctive gift, particularly for wine enthusiasts who appreciate something beyond the familiar. Many of our bottles are available with personalised engraving, adding a name, date or short message directly to the bottle. Browse our sherry wine gifts collection and our personalised sherry engraving collection for the full range.

What food pairs well with sherry?

Fino and manzanilla pair beautifully with seafood, olives, almonds and tapas. Amontillado with charcuterie, chicken and hard cheese. Oloroso with red meat, game and stilton. Pedro Ximenez with chocolate, blue cheese and vanilla ice cream. For more detailed pairing ideas explore our sherry food pairing guides and our guide to cooking with sherry.

We also stock Sandeman, Tio Pepe, Barbadillo, Valdespino, Diatomists, Bodegas Tradicion and La Guita, among others. Each producer is chosen for consistent quality and authentic Jerez character.
