FAQ's For Kopke Colheita Port 2001

How is this Port wine made?

As a true Colheita, this Port is made from a single harvest and aged in oak casks for a minimum of seven years. Slow oxidative ageing develops its dried‑fruit depth, mocha richness and lifted citrus character.

Grapes are hand‑picked, destemmed and crushed before fermentation in temperature‑controlled vats. When the must reaches the ideal sweetness, grape brandy is added to create the final fortified wine. Bottling occurs only when the wine reaches its ideal maturity.

How should this colheita be stored?

Keep the bottle upright in a cool, dry, dark place with no temperature fluctuations. Colheitas are stable but benefit from consistent conditions to preserve their aromatics and freshness.

Does this need decanting once opened?

Decanting isn’t required, but a brief aeration helps the aromatics open. Once opened, enjoy within a few days for the best expression.

How should you serve it for the best experience?

Serve lightly chilled at 12–14°C to highlight its finesse, acidity and aromatic lift. A small Port or tulip‑shaped glass works beautifully.
