Founded in 1638 by German diplomat Cristiano Kopke, Kopke holds the distinction of being the oldest Port wine house in Portugal. What began as a small family-run export business in Porto grew into a prestigious name synonymous with heritage, quality, and craftsmanship.
By the 18th century, Kopke had firmly established itself as a key player in the Port wine trade, gaining a reputation for producing wines of exceptional character and ageing potential. Over centuries, the house became particularly renowned for its Colheita Ports - single vintage Tawnies aged in oak casks, treasured for their complexity and refinement.
Vineyards located in the heart of the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Kopke continues to honour traditional methods while embracing modern excellence. From hand-harvested grapes to meticulous ageing in seasoned wood, each bottle reflects nearly four centuries of winemaking mastery.
Today, Kopke stands not only as a guardian of Port’s history but as a beacon for its future - celebrating time, terroir, and timeless taste.
