Port of Leith White Port

  • Matured in old oak casks, the Port of Leith white port has vibrant orange, citrus and honeyed aromas
  • Lemon, apple and hints of vanilla and almonds on the palate
  • A field blend of Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Gouveio and Donzelinho grapes

White port is a delicious aperitif, chill before serving on its own (olives optional). It also makes a fantastic summer drink mixed with 50-50 tonic, ice, cucumber slices and fresh mint.

Martha’s Family Estate has been producing exquisite port in the Douro Valley since 1727. For much of that time, their wines were sold to merchants in Porto for bottling under other people’s brands. They were recently discovered by the Port of Leith Distillery.

Edinburgh’s Port of Leith was once the epicentre of Scotland’s whisky trade. Casks of port arriving at the harbour would be decanted into locally manufactured bottles. Whisky merchants then bought up the empty casks to store their spirit in the dozens of bonded warehouses that once lined the shore. They soon discovered that it transformed their spirit and a major innovation in whisky production was born.
