Port of Leith Reserve Tawny Port

Martha’s Family Estate has been producing exquisite port in the Douro Valley since 1727. For much of that time, their wines were sold to merchants in Porto to be bottled under other people’s brands. They were recently discovered by the Port of Leith Distillery.

Edinburgh’s Port of Leith was once the epicentre of Scotland’s whisky trade. Casks of port arriving at the harbour would be decanted into locally manufactured bottles. Whisky merchants then bought up the empty casks to store their spirit in the dozens of bonded warehouses that once lined the shore. They soon discovered that it transformed their spirit and a major innovation in whisky production was born.

This Reserve Tawny has been matured for 6 to 8 years and retains incredibly pure and vibrant red fruit flavours with a beautiful nutty undertone. One day you might find some of these flavours swirling through Port of Leith Whisky.

Perfect served slightly chilled towards the end of a meal with cheese. Tawny Port is also an awesome cocktail ingredient. Why not try it in a Port of Leith Negroni: 35ml Port of Leith Tawny Port, 20ml Lind and Lime Gin, 20ml Campari, ice, lemon to garnish.
