Lustau Almacenista Cayetano Del Pino Y Cia Palo Cortado Sherry

Lustau Almacenista Cayetano Del Pino Y Cia is an elegant style of palo cortado, made from seven uniquely selected casks that exhibit saline amontillado-esque qualities.

Palo cortado is one of the lesser known sherry styles and in characters lies somewhere between amontillado and oloroso.

  • A complex, rewarding dry style of sherry
  • It has a dark amber colour
  • Leather and tobacco aromas
  • Dry and concentrated on the palate there is a multifaceted range of coffee, spice and dark chocolate flavours

Serve as an aperitif with olives, nuts, cheese or Iberian ham. This wine can also accompany consommés, cold and smoked meats, foie-gras and many spicy Asian dishes.

Current cellar master Sergio Martinez took charge of the oenological team in 2016. Recieving the Best Fortified Winemaker trophy by the International Wine Challenge three years in a row. Following in the footsteps of the late Manuel Lozano who had won this award seven times.

During the early years, Bodegas Lustau operated as an Almacenista. Buying young base wines, maturing them for several years, then selling the wine on to other Bodegas. The Lustau family began bottling their own sherries and exporting by 1950. In the 1980s they expanded their range and introduced the Almacenista range, buying and maturing casks from small bodegas to share excellent quality names and styles with enthusiasts around the world.
