Krohn Colheita 1983 Tawny Vintage Port In Wooden Gift Box
Krohn are renowned for their Colheita Ports. These high quality, single year Tawny Ports have been matured in wood for at least seven years and have a delicious nutty character and sumptuous complexity.
1983 was an excellent year for Port, this award winning Vintage Port is rich and full bodied, with plenty of red fruit notes. The year saw a dry winter followed by a rainy spring and temperatures remained low until September, when the weather warmed. This late harvest meant that grapes were in perfect condition. A blend of several indigenous grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa and Tinta Barroca. The grapes are hand harvested and are still trodden by foot.
Pale tawny brown with olive highlights. The nose is dense, mellow and spicy, with rich aromas of treacle, dried fig and raisin, combined with black pepper and woody notes of oak and cedar. Round and silky on the palate, with a crisp acidity. The wine finishes with a persistent butterscotch flavour. This 1983 Vintage Tawny Port displays all the intricacy and opulence of many years of ageing in seasoned oak casks.
Serve lightly chilled between 12 to 16 degrees Celsius. Once opened, this Port will last for up to three months. Perfect paired with soft creamy cheese, such as Brie or Camenbert, or delicious with dessert, think apple strudel, pecan pie or creme brulee.
